Multilingual Typesetting Services

Prepress typesetting services in languages other than English are a common category of service we’re asked to perform.

Usually the request for multilingual typesetting comes in conjunction with a request to translate an existing document. InDesign documents are the most common typesetting application we see used in prepress operations. Some of the other software applications we use on projects include Illustrator, and on rare occasions Quark.

Multilingual typesetting services are performed by specialists in the typesetting application (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Quark, et. al.). These application specialists are also experienced in working with non-English languages. They work solely in placing multilingual text into the various application environments to match the original design as closely as possible. Some adjustment in some languages can be needed due to the fact the some languages may require more or less space than the original English.
