3 Signs Your Organization Needs A Translation Company

We’re certain there are companies and professional organizations who do not now and may never need the assistance of a translation company. We also equally confident that a number of organizations desperately need the support of a language services provider, and just don’t know it yet.

Here are 3 signs an organization may be suffering in the absence of services from a professional translation company:

1) Someone internal to the organization is occasionally tasked to perform translation

It’s often a plus when there are personnel within an organization that have language skills. However, a bilingual person is not necessarily a competent translator.

Translation is a specific skill. Even professional interpreters who have a high level of verbal skill in their language pair are often not ideally suited to perform translation.

2) International business is becoming more important

Commercial organizations sometimes start out with a domestic focus and over time gradually extend their market reach internationally. Increased international activity means it’s only a matter of time until language issues creep into their operational mix.

Translation of materials may not be a prerequisite to beginning international business, but it’s eventually often a prerequisite to becoming more than just marginally successful at it.

3) The growth rate of international activity is slowing

Early stage international business success in the absence of non-English language support can create a false sense of confidence that translation of some company materials isn’t needed. If a fast international business start evolves into a slowdown phase and ultimately into a standstill then attention to language issues may be part of what’s needed to build and preserve lasting momentum.
