Thoughtful answers to questions can resolve translation client concerns immediately. Poorly formed answers can unnecessarily introduce or elevate concerns. For this reason our company not only invites questions but when they’re received, we try to respond as clearly and specifically as possible. We can’t respond to and alleviate concerns we don’t know about. If there’s a potential problem or misunderstanding brewing we want to nip it in the bud if possible.

When a question comes in by email it can be tempting to dash off a quick response, effectively cross it off the list of to-dos. A good policy is to wait at least for a few minutes. In a short time somehow the right words can come. The right words in a response to translation clients can make all the difference. After all there’s more at stake than the current project. There are potentially a lifetime of projects to come when customers are informed and pleased.

Some translation clients might wonder: “Is it better to work with a large translation company or a small one?” Our answer: “It depends.”

The size of a translation company often has most to do with its business structure, and not so much with the translation processes it follows or the quality of its work. Since translators tend to work on a freelance basis for multiple translation companies, the personnel actually working on a translation project can be the same (at least in theory).

Translation companies can differentiate themselves in numerous ways. One way is in the customer service and support they provide. For example how attentive are they to special requests? If something unexpected comes up do they work with you to resolve it?

If you or your organizations works with a language services company on a regular basis you’ll likely want to establish a good relationship with a vendor. The quality of the relationship might be one of the most important factors in deciding who becomes your go-to language services partner.
